Eden Michael Hazard is a former Belgian professional footballer who played as a winger or attacking midfielder for Spanish club Real Madrid and captained the Belgium national team. He was widely regarded as one of the best players in the world, Hazard is known for his creativity, speed, acceleration, dribbling and passing.

Early Life

Hazard was born in La Louvière and grew up in Braine-le-Comte, Belgium. His parents were football
players and so are his three younger brothers.

He began his football career playing for club Royal Stade Brainois at the age of four before joining Tubize.

At age of 13 he joined French side Lille after being spotted by clubs scouts. He made his professional debut aged 16 at Lille where he played for the club 190 times. He twice became Ligue 1’s young player of the year and Player of the year. In his 5 seasons at Lille, he featured in Ligue 1 team of the season thrice and won a domestic double in 2010 – 2011 season.

The Belgium international signed for Chelsea in 2012 for approximately $40 million. Hazard won the Europa League in his first season and the PFA Young Player of the Year award in his second. In the 2014-15 season, Mourinho’s second year in charge, Chelsea won the Premier League and League cup.

Hazard was awarded the PFA Players’ Player of the Year after registering 14 goals and 10 assists in the league. 2 years later Hazard won his second league title in 2017 and won the FA Cup in 2018.

He won the Europa League in his final season at the Stamford Biridge, where in his 7 year stint scored 110 goals and assisted 92. Hazard was called up to the Belgium senior team for the first time on 18 November 2008 and his debut was against Luxembourg.
