Memphis Depay was born on 13th
February 1994 in Moordrecht South Holland, to a Ghanaian father – Denis Depay
and a Dutch mother -- Cora Schensema. His father abandoned them when he was
four years old.
Club Career
Memphis began his career at Sparta
Rotterdam after being acquired from his local club vv Moordrecht at age of 11.
He then joined PSV Eindhoven where he made his professional debut in 2011.
In 2014/2015 season he was a force to
be reckoned with, as he emerged top scorer in the Dutch Eredivise, helping PSV
to their first league title since 2008.

After a stellar 2014/2015 season he
joined Manchester united for a reported fee of £25m on a four year contract.
His spell at Old Trafford wasn’t as glamorous and lasted for just 2 seasons, of
which he was frequently a bench warmer.
In 2017 he left Manchester United for
Lyon, the fee of the transfer being £17m, signing a four and a half year deal.
He found his footing at Lyon where he was crucial. He guided the French side to
the champion’s league semi-finals for the first time since 2010.
On 19th June 2021, he joined
FC Barcelona on a free transfer signing a 2 year contract.
International Career
Depay represented Netherlands in
various youth ranks. He was part of the team that won 2011 under-17 European
Championship.
He made his international debut on 15th
October 2013 in a match against Turkey. Since then he has over 60 appearances
for Netherlands and scored 28 goals.
