Early Life

Sergio Ramos Garcia was born in Camas, Seville, Spain by parents; Paqui Ramos(Mother) and Jose Maria Ramos(Father). He was brought up with two siblings Rene and Mariam.

As a child, Ramos was a immense fan of bull fighting and he actually aspired to pursue it once grownup. His parents discouraged him, due to it being considered a dangerous sport.

Ramos was instead encouraged to pursue football by his parents and elder brother, Rene, who is also his agent today.

His parents hired a football trainer who helped Ramos discover his hidden talents as a defender. He started his career at FC Camas before joining Sevilla's youth team after excelling.

After emerging through Sevilla's youth system, Ramos made first and Laliga debut on 1 February 2004, coming on as a substitute. In 2004/05 season, Sergio made 41 appearances for Sevilla, helping then finish 6th and qualify for UEFA cup.

Real Madrid

In the summer of 2005, Ramos was purchased by Real Madrid for €27 million, a record for a Spanish defender. At the club, Ramos was assigned the number 4 shirt, previously worn by the legendary Fernando Hierro

During his earlier seasons, Ramos played as centre back, being also used as an emergency CDM on occasion. However, with the arrival of Christoph Metzelder and Pepe in the 2007–08 season, he was again relocated to right back.

In 2009/10 season, Ramos was appointed one Real Madrid's four captains and was occasionally used as centre back after Pepe was injured.

After Iker Casillas transfer to Porto, Ramos was appointed the club's captain and agreed to a new five year contract in the 2015/16 season.

His tenure as captain was trophy laden, as Real Madrid won the champions 3 consecutive times(From 2015/16 to 2017/18), Laliga, UEFA super cup and Copa Del Rey.

On 8 July 2021, it was announced that Ramos had signed a two-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain.

International Career

Ramos made his debut for Spain's Under-19 team in 2004, making an instant impact. He was part of the team that won Under 19 European Championship.

He first appeared for the senior side on March 2005 in a 3-0 win over China at only 18 yers old as a right-back.

Having cemented his place in the starting lineup, Ramos was crucial in Spain's golden era, where they won European Championship twice, FIFA Worldcup and FIFA confederations cup.

He has made 180 senior appearances and scored 23 goals for Spain.
